John Ronald Reuel Tolkien or J.R.R. Tolkien is regarded as the ‘Father of Fantasy’ who wrote one of the most famous fantasy novels ever written that is “The Lord of the Rings”. This fantasy novel triology which consists of “The Fellowship of the Ring”, “The Two Towers”, and “The Return of the King” is set in a world called Middle Earth. A Hobbit named Frodo Baggins, the main character in the story inherits a magical ring, which could cause the end of the universe. The writing style of J. R. R Tolkien in “The Lord of the Rings” was excellent that entwines the readers of the book into a reality. Other outstanding books written by Tolkien are The Hobbit and The Silmarillion. The book is an epic high fantasy novel, and the story started as a sequel to the Tolkien earlier fantasy novel “The Hobbit” (announced in 1937). Tolkien really created real life characters in this book, while reading this master piece of writing, you will surely feel that you two are with them and abiding the adventure among them.
The way characters have been used by writer to add atmosphere to the tale is really unbelievable. Whenever, Tolkien introduced a new character in the book, he describes that brightly. His description of characters like Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Gandalf, Aragorn, Sauron, Gollum, etc is wonderful and real along with their own desires and idiosyncrasies. Tolkien uses the flaws in the of characters to infuse the plot with a reality that talk of sacrifice and suffering, telling human beings that there is no true line between good and bad, but simply shades, which are complex and compelling. All the characters are so strongly described and explained that you will either love or hate them by their various personalities.
In the novel, the middle earth world is a truly a marvelous. When you will begin reading the novel, you enter in a tiny town called Hobbiton, where Hobbits live that is in a place known as the shire. When the writer has explained the shire, he went from one place to another, and uses important details. The plot of “The Lord of the Rings” is a very dynamic novel because Tolkien doesn’t stay too long in one place, and it seems that he wanted to introduce many living-beings and geographical areas as possible, which was amazing.
Conclusion: Tolkien’s classic “The Lord of the Rings” is an amazing to the imagination, and is extraordinary in every aspect. If you want to read only one fantasy book in your life, then make it The Lord of the Rings.
